Abdul read Medical Science at university and upon finishing his studies joined the International Society for Neglected Tropical Diseases (ISNTD) as a Journalist in Tropical Medicine. He was given the responsibility of Communications Manger where he interviewed key stakeholders, managed grant funding as well as fostered new collaborations and partnerships both at a public and private level. Examples of such partnerships included the Saudi Ministry of Health, World Health Organisation and Coca-Cola.
He then joined the National Health Service (NHS) Management Scheme as Policy Lead for the Chief Medical Officer in blood safety. Abdul represented the NHS on the Government’s advisory committee for the safety of Blood, Tissues and Organs.
During his time on the NHS Management Scheme – Abdul supervised the then Under Secretary of State for Mental Health on Early Medical Abortion during his tenure in Ministerial Private Office.
Abdul was promoted into NHS Private Office within a year of joining the NHS Management Scheme – he worked as the Chief Executives Executive Assistant – an advisory position he held for just over a year.
In 2018 Abdul began his journey in Social Housing and was appointed Chief Operating Officer of a Housing Association - a specialist registered provider of Social Housing. Having oversight of 1661 units and a rental income of £7.3 Million. Abdul held this position for 3 years until 2021 where he founded his own Housing Provider (a CIC) which would eventually give rise to Kenley Group.
Outside of Abdul’s remit as Chief Executive of Kenley Group, Abdul is also Non Executive Director of Horton Group, having oversight of 348 staff, 100 volunteers and an asset value of £18.1 Million.
He has also recently been appointed as Non Executive Director of Halo Housing Association – A Registered Provider of Social Housing.
